Short distant propagation was back to more like normal today.  Good copy with some QSB.  The 808 mile path between KGØVL and W4DEX which was almost constant SSB QSO quality yesterday was back to more like a recent normal.  Just good enough to support a quick SSB contact on propagation peaks.

On the SSB recording below KGØVL was still Q5 copy running 55 watts:

WW8II-BRUCE: welcome everyone that might be monitoring this net. https://www.netlogger.org/  If you hear a signal please tell us about it here on the AIM window. You do not have to transmit to report what you hear. This net is to study the propagation of the 160 meter wave during the day light hours, and to match it to a multiple of conditions. you can see past data of these test at https://1899-khz-midday-prop-test.blogspot.com/

17:47 W4DEX-DEX: KP2AE 579 with a few deep fades

17:47 WA4LDU-JOE: KP2AE CW 569 to the noise with QSB
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thursday, November 14, 2019

We had several DX SSB QSOs and many DX CW receptions today.  QSB on distant paths was minimum while we saw several fast deep fades on the shorter paths.

Over the past 22 months of our daytime test, there have been multiple reports of quick bursts of signal enhancement. Some of these bursts occurred during transmission to weak to detect other than during the burst.  Below is an example that occurred today while K5HFG was transmitting as heard by W4DEX.  The first part of the recording below is KGØVL ending his two-minute CW sequence.  Then K5HFG started his two-minute transmission at 17:37 UT.  K5HFG's signal was not heard at W4DEX other than the burst that occurred at 17:37:14 UT.

K5HFG Signal Burst received at W4DEX

This sounds very much like meteor trail ionization enhancement heard on VHF.  Meteor scatter on 160 meters?
