Today there was more QSB on the E/W paths than the N/S paths.  Both WW8II and KGØVL were both about 5x2 to 5x4 SSB and 549 to 559 CW copy at W4DEX with very little QSB.  At times WW8II on SSB was stronger than AB4AM at W4DEX.  AB4AM at W4DEX peaked 5x8 with dips close to the noise at times.  KGØVL also reported lots of QSB on WW8II.  WB4MDX was copied on CW by everyone except the most distant station, KØAWU, over 900 miles away.

Propagation between KGØVL, KØAWU and WW8II was again fairly good today but with lots of QSB. WW8II copied K5HFG on CW during the 1st minute of the usual 2-minute transmission. WW8II and KGØVL copied W4DEX on CW with fades to 419. At W4DEX WW8II on CW was 559 with very little QSB and KGØVL was 539 with very little QSB. SSB was good between KP2AE, K4FI and W4DEX. At 18:07 UT KGØVL and W4DEX had a quick Q5 CW QSO. ========================================================================

This was another one of those days that propagation was fairly good above 40°N but marginal to the south.  KØAWU reported WW8II on CW at 21db-22db above the noise and KGØVL at 43-46db above the noise.  Also the  KGØVL /  WW8II path was good SSB QSO quality.  To the south WY3T was good CW copy at W4DEX but SSB was Q5 copy only during propagation peaks.  WW8II on SSB at W4DEX was weak but readable also on peak while the CW slowly faded from 579 to 549.  KGØVL only copied CW from W4DEX very weak for a fraction of the two minute transmission.  KGØVL was not heard on CW by W4DEX.  K5HFG detected CW from WY3T but had no copy.

CW mode today seemed to have more than the typical 13 to 16dB advantage over SSB.  WW8II, KGØVL and WY3T on CW received at W4DEX was very strong today but SSB copy was marginal.  SSB and CW between KGØVL and WW8II was very good with WW8II reporting 599 on KGØVL's CW signal.  Signals were good between KØAWU and KGØVL with some QSB.  Between WW8II and KØAWU there were good peaks with more QSB.  Between WY3T and W4DEX SSB copy was weak but Q5 on propagation peaks. K5HFG reported detecting CW from WW8II and W4DEX.

K4FI was in monitor mode and reported:  "I Copied Bruce WW8II today on CW with a tremendous signal."

KØAWU reported visually detecting CW from W4DEX:
"17:44 K0AWU-BILL: W4DEX observed on the waterfall for the ENTIRE 2m period!"

That path is 1068 miles.

Propagation was good today with the usual QSB between KGØVL, KØAWU, and WW8II.  WW8II heard CW briefly from K5HFG and may have detected WY3T.  No GA or Carolinas stations present today but W4DEX was recording.  At W4DEX WW8II, KGØVL and WY3T on CW was very good copy.  Just a trace of signal was detected from K5HFG and no signal from KØAWU.

Image below shows signal levels from the above stations.  Notice the slow QSB cycle:

24 February 2020
DST -5
The most useable SSB path today, 323 miles, was between KØAWU and KGØVL.  Even so, KØAWU reported signals were down 30 dB lower than yesterday.  At 443 miles propagation was good enough between KGØVL and WW8II for SSB most of the time.  On out to 603 miles WW8II was able to make an SSB contact with KØAWU.
Propagation wasn's as good on the southern paths.  WY3T was barely detectable on SSB at W4DEX although CW was good copy.  WA4LDU had a bit more signal from WY3T but still to weak for SSB.  AB4AM and W4DEX was only able to swap signal reports on SSB on peaks over the 216 miles path.  Signals from KP2AE, the shortest distance from W4DEX, 51 miles, ranged from S9 peak to close to the noise on fades.  WW8II on CW was fair copy but no SSB contact was made.  AB4AM was able to get partial copy on K5HFG.  K5HFG reported on SSB heard.  For the first time in many months, the 808 miles between KGØVL and W4DEX wasn't even useable on CW with both stations reporting signals barely detectable.

Propagation between KGØVL and KØAWU was very good today with KØAWU reporting:   "KGØVL best peak sig since I started with the net except for Feb 4 when peak sig was 57db!"
The WW8II / KGØVL path was fair but seemed to be weaker than usual.
The  95 mile path between K4FI / W4DEX path was good but extending on out to AB4AM at 216 miles from W4DEX signals were much weaker than usual.
We did see a few peaks on the WW8II / W4DEX 510 mile path but the peaks far between.

The most reliable path over 100 miles today was 322 miles between KGØVL and KØAWU.  The 336-mile path between WY3T and W4DEX was second-best although much weaker than the more northern path.  The usually good WW8II to KGØVL and W4DEX was very weak today.  At less than 100 miles signals between WA4LDU, K4FI and W4DEX were good with the usual mild QSO swings.

Also, signals both ways were detected between KGØVL and K9TXJ at 395 miles.  K9TXJ was running 100 watts to an end-fed long wire at 25 feet.

18:18 KG0VL-JEFF: Can you do that again at exactly 1820?
18:21 K9TXJ-TOM: CW sent at 1820 - I do hear a station sending CW on frequency, but too weak to copy.
18:21 KG0VL-JEFF: That is me. I will send again at 1823

18:24 K9TXJ-TOM: I can hear small samples of CW, but not able to copy.

18:25 KG0VL-JEFF: Just heard you on CW!

18:26 KG0VL-JEFF: At least I hope it was you.

18:28 K9TXJ-TOM: It possibly was - I sent TEST.

18:28 K9TXJ-TOM: I'll send one more at 1829

18:30 KG0VL-JEFF: I heard very weak CW at 1829 and about 30 seconds. Too weak to copy.

18:30 KG0VL-JEFF: Thanks for the effort Tom. 73

18:30 K9TXJ-TOM: That was me. Band just not cooperating.

18:31 KG0VL-JEFF: Someone tuning

18:33 K9TXJ-TOM: I am running just 100 watts on an end-fed long wire at 25 feet. Not the best for 160.

We found propagation poor today.  At less than 100 miles signals were strong.  Between the 100 to 200 miles, range signals were useable with very noticeable QSB.  Beyond 200 miles all paths were weak.  Even so, there were times stations were weak but Q5 SSB copy on peaks.

20 February 2020
DST -9
Today propagation was very different from yesterday.  We experienced poor propagation below the 40th parallel but very good condition above.  Even the shortest path, 51 miles, between KP2AE and W4DEX was marginal at times.  WY3T heard no SSB and was very weak on CW at AB4AM, KP2AE and W4DEX.  WW8II on CW was fair copy at W4DEX during quick peaks but into the noise on fades.  KGØVL's signal at W4DEX was the weakest received recently.

To the north propagation between  KØAWU and KGØVL was very good with  KØAWU reporting KGØVL at 40dB above the noise at times.  The WW8II / KGØVL path was also very good during most of the test with several SSB exchanges.

The real surprise for the day was the possibility that WY3T's CW was detected at WW8II over the 814 mile path.

19 February 2020
DST -22nT
Propagation today wasn't as good as the 1st and 10th of January but was likely the best since.  Starting the test was a S5 SSB QSB between WW8II and W4DEX.  WW8II also completed SSB contacts with K4FI and KGØVL.  As usual, there were a few times that the WW8II pipeline to the Carolinas got near the noise.  But during the CW session, WW8II was 589 with very little QSB at W4DEX and in the other direction WW8II reported solid 589 for the full two-minute transmission.  KGØVL although not near as good into the Carolinas made several SSB exchanges with W4DEX and was copied by W4DCL, K4FI, KW4DE and KP2AE.  KGØVL also has SSB contact with KØAWU but that northern path seemed to be weaker than usual.  KGØVL on CW was heard by K5HFG.  CW was detected both ways on the K5HFG / W4DEX path to weak to copy complete calls.

18 February 2020
Local propagation was good again today.   Paths beyond 200 miles had good peaks were completely in the noise at times.  The AB4AM 160 mile path to K4FI was good while the 216 miles between AB4AM and W4DEX was not as reliable.  At 336 miles WY3T was marginal copy at W4DEX but his CW was very good copy,  WY3T was also good CW copy at K4FI, WA4LDU, KW4DE, and AB4AM.  At 400+ miles WW8II was good copy on during peaks both CW and SSB at AB4AM, W4DCL, KW4DE and W4DEX.  KGØVL on CW was heard by WW8II, KØAWU and W4DEX.  KØAWU was copied by KGØVL and WW8II.
